About the Business
James, originally from Grantown, has lived in Forres for the past thirty years and started his joinery/carpentry apprenticeship in 1976. Hamish, born and bred in Elgin also served his time as a joiner/carpenter from 1980. After working together locally and a short spell working in London, they decided to start on their own in 1986. Working, at first, mainly as sub contactors to large construction companies along with their own private work they gradually realised that their hearts lay in the private side.
They enjoyed the client/contractor relationship on smaller projects far more than any huge site atmosphere. Today as the majority of their workforce has served their apprenticeships with the company and a long list of satisfied clients continues to grow, Grant and McPherson remain the longest active joinery partnership in Moray!
