About the Business
The family building firm of S Scott and Son is managed by Stephen McCreery, supported by his wife Lucy. The company was founded in 1967 by Stephen's grandfather, Samuel Scott, and it joined the National House Building Council in 1970. Samuel died in 1984 and his son Brian took over the reins of the firm. In 1994 Stephen who had worked for the company after leaving school with A levels, was promoted to a partnership in the firm.
Other family members who also work for the firm are Mark, Stephen's brother who joined in 1998 and has a background in sheet metal work and Trevor, Stephen's father, who is an electrician and joined in 2002.
Stephen was educated at Regent House in Newtownards and after "A" levels he made the decision not to go to university but to join the family firm. He had been working on a part time basis for the firm since he was 12 so he was very clear about the career he was choosing.
